Policies

All Policies are available to view on request. When signing contract a copy of our prospectus is issued containing all policies for your records.

Registration

We comply with all requirements of registration as laid down, for us, by OFSTED and the Children’s Act 1989

relevant to Childminders. We will be required to occasionally give your child’s name and date of birth to our

Registration and Inspection Officer. All parents are asked to inform us of any changes to the information they give us. We keep up to date with childminding regulations and legislation.

Insurance

Our public liability insurance is held with NCMA. We comply with all the requirements laid down by our insurance company. We have appropriate car insurance for business use and always ensure children are restrained in a safety seat or with seatbelts suitable for their age or weight.

Confidentiality

We believe that parents know their own child best and are the most important people in a child’s life. You are your child’s first and foremost educators and as such we believe it is vital to form a strong working relationship between us. It is important to work closely together and exchange information in order to give your child the best possible care in accordance with your wishes. We will show respect for each families beliefs and traditions. All information will remain confidential except in the interests of protecting a child.

Equal Opportunities

All children are given the same opportunity to play, experience and achieve with due regard for their age, race,

religion, gender, culture, disability or special educational needs, social background or composition of the family.
Racist/sexist behaviour or language is actively discouraged and always appropriately challenged.
Positive images of people often discriminated against are given/shown through activities, experiences and

conversation.  I feel that it is important for a child's self esteem and confidence to have a positive image of the

racial/cultural/social group that they and their family belong to, and to respect the differences in others.
All children are encouraged to take responsibility for the environment and to care for one another.

Behaviour

We do not and will not administer any form of physical punishment or humiliation to any child in our care. Shouting, name-calling, food or sleep deprivation will never be used as a form of discipline.
Good behaviour is rewarded with suitable praise and attention. Encouraging positive social behaviour shows children they do not need to misbehave to gain attention.
Children are taught the few basic house rules and boundaries and are expected to comply. Realistic, age appropriate boundaries are consistently maintained.
We will set a good example with regards to manners and safety.  Children will do as we do, rather than as we say.
A child who is upsetting others or misbehaving will be taken aside and spoken to about the problem. In extreme cases the child may be asked to take “time out”, in the same room, for 1-2 minutes to allow the situation to cool off.
If a child upsets another child or misbehaves on a regular basis, the parents will be informed and asked to speak to their child.
In this way we should be able to deal with any problem that may arise quickly and with little fuss.
